A miracle happened during the Christmas period. I didn’t go near my computer for a few days. I decided not to see any more pantomimes or try to arrange any interviews. With my son, Sean, home for Christmas, it was a chance to visit second hand book and record stores. Bought a few things and you always meet fascinating characters in old vinyl record stores. We are lucky to have one in the Ryde Arcade and another in Shanklin.
We had a great family Christmas Day lunch at the Buddle Inn, Niton. Wonderful setting, great welcoming real fire and great food.
Sean managed to finally convince me to watch my first-ever Columbo. He used to watch the series with my late dad, Roy. Two were on the same afternoon and Sean told me they were the two best ever – one had Johnny Cash as the guest star and the other Donald Pleasence. I enjoyed both of them.
Sad to see Jane Clutterbuck leave the County Press. As their entertainment’s editor, she had done an excellent job over many years. She has taken early retirement. I hope it’s a very happy one for her.
