WC SEPT 25,

Had ‘Gerry’ my pacemaker checked on Monday morning and all was well. It had settled down following my exciting interview with Melinda Messenger, the previous Friday.

On Tuesday I went to the funeral of an old friend – Jackie Stretch, the wife of my good friend Oscar. She was such fun to know and it was sad she had died much too soon. It was a wonderful send-off at the Crematorium and there were many outside who could not get in. Some emotional memories from some younger members of the family. A few old soccer legends were there – including Nobby Nash, Brian Morey and -.

Later that night we went to the Mayflower to see a brilliant production of Beautiful – The Carole King Musical. My good friend, Carol Royle, played Carole King’s mother and after the show we popped backstage to see her. Met one or two of the very talented company.

On Wednesday I continued writing more chapters for my 2018 book. Have now written 47 of the planned 100. Loving it. Now have plans for a different kind of book for 2019. Retire!! Who said that!!

Went to Windsor on Saturday to see the play House Guest, at the legendary Theatre Royal. The last time I went there was to interview Richard Todd, one of my schoolboy movie heroes. This time it was James Pellow, who began acting with the Belle Vue Players on the Isle of Wight. He knows how to enjoy the high life! He took me to a Wetherspoons, right opposite Windsor Castle. I’d never been in one before. It was full, very noisy and my fish and chips came very quickly. I enjoyed him in the play and he’d made such a quick recovery. Minutes earlier I’d seen him murdered in a very tense scene.
