WC JANUARY 23.

Monday was a sad day as I went to the funeral of my very first boss – Leslie Harvey. He was the managing director when I began working at Gould, Hibberd and Randall, the soft drink manufacturers. It was an honour to give a short eulogy.

On Tuesday I interviewed Mary Long who has just written a book called Diamonds Are Forever, which is about her idol Shirley Bassey. There are some rare photographs never seen in public before.

On Thursday I nipped over to Radio Solent to be interviewed on their ISDN line by Duncan Warren from BBC Radio Cornwall. This was to be played out on Saturday morning. It was really fun.

On Friday we went to Chichester and I was so thrilled to interview one of my favourite actors, Ken Stott. He played Rebus, was a regular in The Vice, played Balin, the dwarf, in the three movies of The Hobbit, was DCI Red Metcalfe in Messiah and was in the hit 2014 series of The Missing. He was not really well but gave me a brilliant interview. He’s in The Dresser at Chichester Festival Theatre until February 4. Listen out for him on a new John Hannam Meets podcast.
