WC December 5
My son, Sean, took five of my books to a friends record shop in Bury St Edmonds on Monday and they sold them in two days. Now they want more. Some great news to start the week off. There must be so many other shops around Britain that might have a similar success. I feel helpless.
Went to see Sunny Afternoon, the Kinks musical, on Tuesday night at the Mayflower, Southampton. Another brilliant show and great value for money at around three hours. A very strong cast and, of course, the brilliant songs of the Kinks. They had some real battles, particularly Ray and Dave, and this is well captured in the stage show. The second superb show I had seen at the Mayflower in around two weeks. Given the choice of my favourite from two brilliant shows I would go for Million Dollar Quartet. Difficult choice to make.
It’s panto season again and I have five in six days. Looking forward to it.
I interviewed Vicki Michelle from ‘Allo ‘Allo at the Kings Theatre, Southsea, on Thursday afternoon after the matinee performance of her pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk. She was in great form on and off stage. Locked in a broom cupboard with Yvette!! How lucky was I!
On Saturday I headed to the Ferneham Hall to see their Sleeping Beauty pantomime. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was delighted to interview Noel Sullivan just after the show. Once of Hear’Say, he has enjoyed so many theatre performances over the past ten years or more in both musicals and straight plays. Recently his made his TV drama debut in Ordinary Lies 2, which could be the start of a whole new career for him. Such a nice guy.
