WC JULY 11.

I went to talk at the Medham WI at Northwood on Monday night and had a most enjoyable evening, which ended with a nice American supper. They seemed to enjoy my Chatting Up The Stars talk and there was also a lot of interest in my new book, which comes out in early October.

Saw a brilliant show on Tuesday night at the Mayflower, Southampton. The Last Tango is the third in a trilogy of shows featuring stunning dancers Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace. I think this is the best of the three – and so did the audience. They just stood and cheered at the end of an amazing night. This is so much more than a show with a few dance routines cobbled together. It’s such a touching story, aided by a great dance company, two extremely talented singers and the acting talents of Teddy Kempner, who is so important to this show – and his expressions reveal so many visible feelings. Vincent and Flavia are sensational, particularly in their last number. Her solo tap dance in the red dress was another highlight. There is not a weak link in this show and it’s a pure delight from start to finish. Very emotional at times – and I had a few moist eyes moments. I think some of the cast do every night. It’s the last week of a long tour. I’ve seen it twice and could go for a third time.

On Thursday night I went to Shanklin Theatre to meet one of the stars of their summer production of The Best Of The West End And Beyond, AMY BIRD. Amy has a fascinating story and is both a performer and agent. She is never lost for words which is perfect for a chat show. Listen out for her on a forthcoming John Hannam Meets new interview podcast, which can be listened to all over the world. Just go to the radio page of this website to hear many of my new and archive interviews.
