WC FEBRUARY 8
Early on it was head down to write a few more chapters of my new book which I am pleased with, so far. There was also a Wednesday recording session to record two new podcasts, one from Derrick Evans, known by millions as Mr Motivator, which is a brand new interview, and the other was an archive featuring a 1992 interview with Bob Monkhouse.
We nipped over on Thursday to attend the press night of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Mayflower, Southampton. It is very enjoyable but I had seen better productions of it – including one at the Mayflower. In the interval reception it was so nice to meet old friends Lawrie McMenemy and Earl Carpenter. Earl, a West End and Broadway star, was off to Manila the following day to star in The Far East tour of Phantom. He had only just returned from Broadway.
Sadly on Friday it was the funeral of a good friend Chris McDonald, the former popular Island policeman and gifted all round sportsman. The personal tributes were all amazing and Chris deserved them all. It was a fitting send off to a lovely man.
