WC November 23.
Went to see my good friend Josh Barry on Monday about a project I am helping him with. He loves learning about the good old days of real stars, influential agents and the glory days of stage and TV variety shows. I have so much admiration for him and how he has learnt to live with his health problems and focus his dreams on a particular presentation evening that will come to fruition next year. I look forward to being a part of it.
I did arrive a wee bit late as I had come from an unexpected meeting which came completely out of the blue and I am still coming to terms with it.
Wednesday afternoon was such a joy – in more ways than one. I went to Ryde Academy to interview their new inspirational principal Joy Ballard. Millions saw her on the brilliant Channel 4 documentary series Educating Cardiff. I was looking forward to our interview and was not disappointed. It can be heard on Sunday December 6 at 2 and 10pm.
I went to the Spring Arts Centre, Havant, on Saturday night to see a show called The Other Half, featuring three recent guests of John Hannam Meets – Mark Billingham and My Darling Clementine. Absolutely loved it in a wonderful little theatre with so much atmosphere. I even forgot about the weather outside and whether I would even get back to the Island. The trains were running late and it was rather windy. There was a happy ending and the last Cat did run. Great music and Mark Billingham is a brilliant story teller – as his top selling novels prove. I love Mike and Lou, of My Darling Clementine, who are proudly British. Their brand of country and Americano is quite superb and far better that many acts from the States.
