WC AUGUST 24.
A very quite week by my standards but I have caught up with lots of admin and am about to work on the nominations for this year’s IW Amateur Theatre Awards. I am also chasing a few interviews. Lost out on PP Arnold, as I was not prepared to do a telephone interview from Spain. To me, interviews are all about sitting next to the person. That’s what chat shows are all about. I don’t do phone interviews or lazy Q and A so-called interviews. Sadly, this is a new current trend.
I did undertake an interview on Tuesday with Newport’s Maurice Gilliam, who is the subject of the October John Hannam Interview in The Beacon.
I had to call off my Saturday night visit to the Gala Night at the Apollo Theatre. Luckily, there is still time to catch their current production of Ladies in Retirement.
Had a great Sunday night watching Joe Pasquale at Shanklin Theatre. As ever, he was in great form and the 500 strong audience loved every minute. Managed to catch up with my old friend on the way home from my Sunday show for a quick update interview and then went back for the show. He was also thrilled to meet one of his all-time comedy heroes – Ryde’s Raymond Allen, who wrote Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em.
