WC DECEMBER 3.
The week started well with a great touring version of Starlight Express at the Mayflower, Southampton. Two days later it was Jesus Christ Superstar from the Medina College at the Medina Theatre. The cruxificion scene was quite amazing and there were one or two stand-out performances, although some of the solo singing was disappointing. The next night it was Hard Times at Shanklin Theatre and it proved, at nearly 3 hours, a much longer show than I expected – and I had so sandwiches with me. It was a far cry from Oliver and Great Expectations!
I met an amazing 89 year old – who remembers the last war as if were yesterday. Margaret Munday-Whitaker gave me a brilliant interview about her experiences as a Wren on the Island during World War 2. I can harly wait to play it on air. It can be heard on Sunday December 16 on JH Meets.
The week ended with three pantomimes in three days – Shorwell, Totland and Cowes. I have another ten to attend. Oh yes I have!!! These three were of varying standards – and I might leave it there.
