WC MARCH 12.
There was a sad start to the week and I attended two funerals of old friends who both had made such an impression on me – the former Ryde grocer Cliff Line and the wonderful Havenstreet character Fred Price.
I also basked in the sun on Monday afternoon when I went to interview Norah Boswell at Parsonage Farm, Newchurch. It was so hot we sat outside to record the interview. Norah has such a fascinating story – and did a top secret job during wartime. All will be revealed on Sunday March 25th.
On Monday night I had fun at the Medham WI, Northwood. During my talk I mentioned Ann Sidney, a former Miss World, who I had not been in contact with for many years. Two days later, out of the blue, I get an e-mail from Ann in Los Angeles – and we have started to keep in touch. When I last met her e-mails were not really in voque. She, somehow, clicked on to my website. What an amazing co-incidence! I first met Ann, back in 1966, when she was in Lock Up Your Daughters, with Bill Maynard tand Craig Douglas, in Bournemouth.
I met Melvyn Hayes again on Thursday morning to talk about his Apollo show for April 13. I can hardly wait. He gave me an insight into his plans and did the odd piece from his act. The audience will love it – and all for just £7 – which goes to charity.
Saturday began with a shock – I had won the lottery!! I will still keep working – well it was only £10. Mind you – if it had been 3 million – I would still have kept working.
