WC MARCH 6
The week has started well with the confirmation of two interviews, one in London and the other in Cardiff. The latter one is an actor who had long runs in EastEnders, Coronation Street and Doctors. All will be revealed soon.
Every time I have suffered another birthday I try and make a long run a few days later to prove to myself I can still do it. Imagine my surprise on Monday when a theatre PR friend rang me to confirm an interview and I asked him what time it was. He told me it was 2-25pm – and I shocked both of us. It meant I had been running for 2 hours 30 minutes – no wonder I felt tired. I may not attempt this length of run again. I will settle for a 2-hour max. The last 30 minutes was a killer. It was nice to get a call on the mobile – and a good time to stop and lean on a gate.
The Medina Theatre, Newport, has enjoyed six sell-out shows in the past two weeks. Sadly for Boycie and Marlene, John Challis and Sue Holderness, there were only around 130 present on Tuesday night. It turned out to be another brilliant night at this theatre and I knew what to expect but it was even better than I had imagined. Earlier in the day I had arranged three more interviews. My date book is filling up very fast.
I am thrilled Isle of Wight Radio are hoping to celebrate the 21st anniversary of my show with a special fish and chip supper evening, including a chat from me on 38 years of interviews, called Chatting Up The Stars. The date is Thursday May 12 at the new Newclose Cricket Ground at Blackwater. The price will be £10 for the supper and entertainment. Tickets are available from IW Radio but only 85 will be available, due to limited capacity. I can also deal with any enquiries etc.
Several exciting interviews have come in and the names will be announced as soon as they are safely in the can. Ten are confirmed at present.
