One of the saddest moments of the lockdown was the death of popular Island sportsman Andy Long. He died after a long illness and, sadly, they could not hold a traditional funeral. In the IW County Press, dated October 9, John had a full page feature to celebrate his life. So many knew him for his numerous cricket achievements for Newport CC and the Island team. He as such a popular person.
