On Monday with the Calbourne Antiques Fair cancelled, due to Sunday’s, rain we ended up at the Vintage Car event at Yarmouth School. There were also stalls with vintage items – some were very overpriced. With the ferry service temporarily suspended, due to the fire on the Lymington ferry, the local school had a bumper attendance at their event. Hopefully, they made a lot of money.
Later in the day I went to see Newport play East Cowes Vics at St George’s Park. It began well but was spoilt when the referee sent off an East Cowes player late in the first half. The score was 1-1 at the time – and so it remained in a dour second half.
I popped over to Southsea on Wednesday to attend their pantomime launch. Many of the stars from their forthcoming production of Cinderella were there. I chose to interview their principal star, Jack Quickenden, the current winner of Dancing On Ice. He was also a past runner-up in the Jungle programme and a contestant in The X-Factor. A real nice young man and up for a bit of fun. Listen out soon for our interview.
Went to Shanklin Theatre on Friday night to see The Dressing Room, which starred Cannon and Ball, Johnnie Casson and Stu Francis. Loved it and the chance to see some great old pros at work.
On Saturday I went to Westwood Park, Cowes, to watch Cowes Sports take on Wiltshire side Westbury in the FA Vase. The Island side lost 5-3 after extra time – and only had themselves to blame. They were in the lead three times. Missed chances and defensive blunders gifted the visitors the game.
