WEEKS COM FEBRUARY 27 AND MARCH 6

.

Took advantage of a quiet week to press on with my next book and I have now completed 62 of the 86 chapters. I keep changing the stars in the book to include fascinating stories from my interviews with them. I am reliving some very happy memories and I continue to think how lucky I have been to have interviewed so many amazing big stars. It has been beyond a boyhood dream.

I also managed to chat with one of my former local football heroes, Steve Greening. A few days later I went to see his first local football club, Whitecroft Barton, reach the final of the Hampshire Intermediate Cup by beating a good Bournemouth Electric side 2-1. What a crowd, too. Bigger than either Newport or Cowes on the same day.

It couldn’t have been a better start to WC March 6. Renown Pictures, who run the brilliant Talking Pictures TV channel, which can be seen on Freeview 81 and Sky 343, are now going to sell my book. It will be on their March/April mailing list which goes out to a few thousand people. Following the news of my next book, they have invited me to talk at their 2018 Film Festival at Rickmansworth on February 11. I went to their recent one and was delighted to meet up with a few old friends, including Jess Conrad, Brian Murphy, Jason Dors-Lake and Liz Fraser.

Went to the press night of the stage version of the brilliant Peter James thriller Not Dead Enough. Loved it – and so did the audience. Shane Richie and Laura Whitmore played the leads and were in great form. Had a quick chat with both of them at the private reception after the show before we dashed to the ferry.

Ended the week with a Sunday night at the Medina Theatre, Newport. Nine Below Zero were in superb form and their 8-piece big band were sensational. I hope they come back again. The word will quickly spread of just how good they were. The Island’s Lewis Berry did a good job in the opening slot.
