WC July 18.
I have had a few days off this week which may surprise a few. There is a good reason. My daughter Caroline has been home for a few days and we have been out and about on the beautiful Isle of Wight – and the weather has been amazing. There is further exciting news on the book. It has now gone to the printers and I am likely to receive a rough proof in the next few days. I can hardly wait.
We went to Shanklin Theatre on Thursday night to see The Best of the West End and Beyond. It’s another brilliant summer season show from their Spotlight professional company. It’s fast moving from start to finish with some great singing from the solo performers and in the company numbers, which include some quite superb harmonies. There are numerous eye catching dance routines. The whole talented cast of Rowan Lathey, Jayne Morris, James Derbyshire, Amy Bird, Ashleigh Mackness, Traci Stockman, Brad Barnley, Dominic Pope(he can’t be that old, surely?), Charles Johnson and Nathaniel Mellor are such a credit to the theatre. Amy and Brad, who is improving so much, are new this year and they fit in so perfectly. It’s great to welcome the multi talented Amy Bird back to the theatre. I did miss a little of the comedy usually associated with this talented group but they have extended the idea of the show to include icons like Elvis and the Beatles, which the coach parties love. The staff also do a brilliant job with so many coaches outside. I also love the marvellous four piece band who add so much to this production. They deserve a special mention – David Redston, Tim Marshall, Tom Gardner and Joe Redston. A night to remember.
