WC APRIL 18 AND 25.

Tuesday April 19 was a fun day because I went to London to interview the legendary Billy Ocean. He has a new double album, one featuring new recordings of some of his favourite songs and the other contains all his mega hits. As ever, he was great to chat to.

Two days later we went to Eastbourne and it was a great train journey and much cheaper for two of us than any ferry from the Island. I interviewed two of my favourite people, Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace, two great stars from Strictly and their own West End and touring productions. We saw their latest, The Last Tango, and it is brilliant. It comes to the Mayflower, Southampton, in July. As ever, they were a joy to talk to. Flavia is one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever seen and Vincent is adored by many ladies. Their dancing is sensational. This show is highly recommended.

I have really had my head down writing my new book and I have now done over 60 chapters of the 80 planned. Marty Wilde, whose idea it is, is so pleased with what he has read so far. He is also writing the foreword.

Had a great Monday night on April 25, when I was interviewed live on stage at Shanklin Theatre by Viv Russell, a wonderful actor and a volunteer at the theatre. It was the first time she had ever interviewed anyone and she did so well. I loved it.

On Saturday afternoon (April 30) I was a guest at the McCarthy and Stone’s new Newport complex. It was nice to mingle with the residents, potential residents and visitors. I was asked to do a Q and A and it turned out to be so enjoyable. I love older women, so it was great fun for me. My good friend, Dave B, sang and played guitar and was such a hit. He’s great – for his age!!

The next day I went to the 70th birthday of my long-term friend Greta Warburton, in Ryde. I am not a party lover but it was fun and such a pleasure to see her again. Also delighted to meet friends from my past life as a salesman. They were all former Spar grocers and it was great to look back on the good old days.
