WEEK COM MARCH 28.
Had workmen from Anglian Home Improvements doing some work on my house for a couple of days which gave me a chance to write more chapters for my forthcoming book. I am now about halfway through. Marty Wilde gave me the idea and insisted I do it and he is writing the foreword. The crunch time is approaching and he has asked to see what I have done so far. The plan at this stage is to have it on the market in the late summer.
It was great to go to Shanklin Theatre on Thursday night to see the first professional play featuring TV stars that has been seen at the theatre for many years. A Murder Is Announced is not one of Agatha Christie’s greatest plays but they did a good job and received several curtain calls. I had seen better professional plays there in past years, I’ve been going there for over 50 years, but it was a gamble well worth taking. Looking forward to the two more that are coming this year.
Saw a brilliant show on Saturday night at the Medina Theatre, Newport. It was Night of One Hundred Stars featuring the superb impressionist Debra Stephenson, also well known for playing Shell Dockley in Bad Girls and Frankie Baldwin in Coronation Street. They had been selling out on their British tour but, sadly, not at the Medina Theatre. I have been going to this theatre since the day it opened and have never seen anyone work harder than her. The regulars who did not go missed such a gem of an evening. The six piece band were sensational. She is a stunning performer and a lovely lady off stage – nothing like Miss Dockley!!
