WC APRIL 6.
Easter Monday afternoon was particularly memorable. We went to see a brilliant production of Evita at Shanklin Theatre. The time just flew by – the sign of a good show. One performer was the subject of the overheard audience conversation as we walked down the hill – and had clearly stolen the show!
At 9am on Tuesday morning I had an e-mail from the Mayflower, Southampton, asking if I was available to meet up backstage with Joe Pasquale at 3pm. Luckily I was free and it’s always great to catch up with a good friend of over 30 years. He’s starring in Spamalot all this week at the Mayflower – and I saw the show later in the day. It was brilliant and Joe has surprised everyone yet again. He was in great form on our interview. He is also starring in Aladdin at the Mayflower this coming Christmas.
We went to the Red Tie production of The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband on Friday night at the Apollo Theatre and had a great evening. Super entertainment, perfect in length and some brilliant acting from three Island youngsters Hebe Gregory, Libby Cadman and Carl Burch. They made you proud to be an Islander.
On Saturday afternoon I obtained a fascinating interview at the Ventnor Arts Club with La La Shockette, from the New Romantics era, also known as Lowri-Ann Richards. What a story she’s got! It will make amazing listening with some of her favourite music from the period. Went back in the evening to her show at the Ventnor Arts Club, a superb intimate venue. It was a remarkable performance and a few secrets were revealed. I loved it.
