WC March 9.
On Tuesday afternoon I headed over to the Kings Theatre, Portsmouth, to interview Edele Lynch from B’Witched, who, back in the late 90s had four number ones with their first four singles – a unique record. They were also the youngest all-girl group to top our pop charts. They still do huge concerts but Edele also appears in theatre productions. She returns to the Kings with an Easter pantomime version of Treasure Island, which can be seen on Saturday April 11 and Sunday the 12th.
On Wednesday morning one of my all-time music icons JUSTIN HAYWARD, from the Moody Blues, War of the Worlds and solo hits like Forever Autumn and Blue Guitar, e-mailed to say I could interview him on Friday morning in Esher. He was back in England for a few days, from his home in the South of France, before going on a world tour with the Moody Blues, which begins in America. I could barely wait and was not disappointed on Friday morning, when he proved a perfect host. It was the culmination of a dream I first had in the 70s. Interviewing him in my 25th non-stop year was indeed such an honour. Listen out for him soon on John Hannam Meets.
Taxi drivers are often in the know. On Friday morning a guy took me to Southampton Central Station and told me he comes to the IW Pop Festival every year. He told me he had a music agent in his cab a few days earlier who had told him BLUR are the big name act not yet announced for this year’s line-up. I wonder if he is right?
