WC SEPT 29.
On Monday night I watched the final episode of the best 3-part drama I had seen for some considerable time. It was, of course, Cilla. I loved Sheridan Smith – and what a voice! I was just flattered to have had breakfast with her before our interview at the Royal Hotel, Ventnor, back in 2012. One of the nicest stars I have ever met.
I loved Roy Hudd’s show at Shanklin Theatre on Wednesday afternoon. A real all-round entertainer and showman. His wife Debbie was there to prompt him into action and they had a great rapport. He could well return next year.
I went to watch Newport’s FA Cup reply with Winchester City on Tuesday night. Very disappointed with their display – too much long ball and big boot stuff. I just felt lucky to have seen some of their great teams of the past.
I met Jillie Wheeler and her new puppy – Seely – On Thursday night. Another double act in the making?
I had a super Friday morning in East Cowes when I went back to my roots to undertake a talk about a hundred yards from the first house that Heather and myself had ever bought and about the same distance away from where I lived with my parents. The Clarries Club were a very good audience and I met some old friends and made a few new ones. I had never ever been in the Evangelical Church in Clarence Road until that morning.
