WC SEPT 15.
Monday was rather special. I had a great trip to the London premises of the world famous Water Rats, to interview my old friend Roy Hudd. He was in superb form and is heading for Shanklin Theatre on Wednesday afternoon October 1 to appear in a show with his wife Debbie. The Water Rats new museum is a real treasure trove of memorabilia and it was so good to catch up with old friends Keith Simmons and his wife Fran. Roy can be heard on John Hannam Meets on Sunday September 28.
Met up with MARTHA REEVES again on Tuesday night, when she appeared live at Shanklin Theatre. What a superb night it proved to be and she was in brilliant form and so were the seven piece band. Anyone who did not go because they thought it was a tribute show missed a marvellous evening. Martha was also keen to have another quick interview and this can be heard soon – and she talks about her love for the Island.
One or two top names have been asked to appear on John Hannam Meets and replies are eagerly awaited. I don’t have the luxury of the BBC networks when stars are booked up for the presenters and there are researchers to write all their questions. I am a one-man band – and rely on my contacts over 40 years. I am much happier and love doing it all myself. I do turn down a lot of interviews as they are not in-person. This has been my policy for 25 years – and I do not pretend people are in the studio when they are miles away on a phone line. A real chat show is all about being face to face with the guests.
