WC April 28.
On Tuesday night I had a great time at the meeting of the Havenstreet Country Women at the Community Centre, which is a part of the old village school. Before the evening began I popped into the home of my good friend Vera Price, the widow of my great old pal Fred Price, and she knows to entertain a man about to talk to a room full of women. A chocolate éclair was perfect. The talk went well and they were so interested and asked a lot of questions – and I even won a raffle prize.
On Wednesday I went to the home of Island entertainer BRIAN MARTIN who has been in the business an incredible 71 years. He came on my radio show over 20 years ago and will shortly make another appearance to help celebrate my 25th year of the show. He is in fine form and will reveal one or two surprises.
Went to Carousel on Friday night at the Trinity Theatre, Cowes. I think it is fair to say I have enjoyed far better nights at this friendly theatre. They always make you welcome. It was rather long and at times I wondered if it was now Saturday!!
On Saturday I saw a wonderful array of young Island talent at the debut show of the Isle of Wight Shakespeare Company at East Dene, Bonchurch. There were several outstanding performances – and one in particular. delightfully visual and intimate
