WC MARCH 18

Had a great reunion with my old friend Henry Adams recently and he was in such good form I recorded an interview with him for John Hannam Meets. Henry, who had an open all hours shop in Ryde for 29 years, is also well known as a rower, councillor and life-long Pompey supporter. He has a fund of stories from his life, which includes being a postman, working on Curnard liners and a doorkeeper at the 1970 Pop Festival.

I was hoping to get to Eastbourne on Thursday to interview one of my favourite actors – Pauline Quirke, who has had success in so many top TV shows. Currently she is in Broadchurch and touring in the stage version of Birds of a Feather, which comes to the Mayflower, Southampton, from May 21. It didn’t work out in the end but it all happened two days later backstage at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne. It proved a double bonus – as she also brought along her close friend Linda Robson, who also was a regular in Birds of a Feather. We had great fun but time was limited as they had two shows to do and a photocall for charity. They have invited me back for part two when they come to the Mayflower. I can hardly wait. They are such good fun.
