WC MARCH 28.
Not quite the week I had anticipated but, hopefully, all expected interviews will still be undertaken – particularly two biggies.
It was a real pleasure on Monday to go to the launch of First Act 2011 at the Hurricanes Rugby Club, Sandown. It was a full house and a real night to remember. I was so delighted to introduce Carol Laidler, who began the group back in 1994. A loss of funding could have caused the theatre group for adults with learning difficulties to have ceased to exist. Carol, Viv Russell and a lot of hard-working supporting workers have managed to keep things going. They now have a committee and have applied for full charity status. There was also some admirable entertainment from First Act members.
Had a brilliant Tuesday and managed to come away from London’s West End with enough material to present a special 2-hour programme, featuring the music of Genesis, Mike and the Mechanics and Roachford. Mike Rutherford and Andrew Roachford were in great form.
Friday was a special day for me as I travelled to the London home of the world’s most famous soprano – LESLEY GARRETT. She gave me a brilliant interview, full of fun with a few more serious moments. Such a lovely and down-to-earth lady and she said I was welcome to go back, at any time, for another interview.
