WC SEPT 27.
Monday and Tuesday has gone mad for interview confirmations. A week or two about there were so few about but now they are rolling in. That tingle of excitement is back – particuarly now that one of my favourite ladies has said yes. I have four confirmed for this week and seven more in the pipeline. Keep reading this blog (apparently some people actually like it) for news of the names on the list.
Saw Blood Brothers for the fifth time – and on this occasion it was at the Mayflower, Southampton. I cried, as ever, as did hundreds of others. High quality production but I had seen better. Impressed with Niki Evans, from The X-Factor, and also Robbie Scotcher as the Narrator. He was brilliant.
Wednesday was a dream because I met two real actors at Chichester – Kenneth Cranham and Tony Haygarth, who have been delighting theatre at TV audiences for years. They are starring in A Month in the Country. We all hit it off and listen out for the results.
I loved Brit-Pop band Rialto and, in particular, their lead singer Louis Eliot, who is now fronting his own band, The Embers. He is one of the stars I have re-visited to celebrate 20 years of John Hannam Meets. Caught up with him on Thursday in Wimborne. Love his new CD, Kittow’s Moor.
Alvin Stardust, who has been enjoying success since the early 60s, is still going strong and has released a new album, I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll – and it’s excellent. I met him on Friday teatime, as a returning popular guest, to help celebrate 20 non-stop years of John Hannam Meets. He performs at the Shanklin Conservative Club and then heads off to London in the early hours to fly to Munich on Saturday morning.
Managed to catch the Cowes AODS version of the John Godber comedy Teechers. There was just a cast of three but a few real memorable moments.
Looking forward to next week and interviews with two world stars – one of whom was one of my earliest rock ‘n’ roll heroes.
