WC MAY 9
There was a great start to the week with a story on my John Hannam Archives CD in the Encore Magazine, which goes to people in the professional world of theatre, including agents, artists, promoters and venues.
I’ve contacting various theatre organisations to make them aware.
There are one or two amazing interviews being talked about. One in particular would be one of the greatest I have ever achieved over the past 38 years. They may happen but I am trying to keep my feet on the ground, just in case things don’t materialise. I never reveal any guests until they are well and truly in the can.
Saw Hairspray at the Mayflower with superb performances from Michael Ball, Les Dennis and Sandra Marvin. With many South Coast and Island theatres struggling to sell seats at the moment, it could be that the three week sell-out, with just a few standing tickets available, may well be affecting other shows. The Mayflower holds 2,500.
Really flattered by a brilliant piece written by Keith Newbery in the County Press Weekender. The interview brought both tears and laughter. How great to also see Mick Bull earn some richly deserved praise.
Not too many at the Dana concert at the Medina Theatre, Newport, but what a great night and she’s such a wonderful entertainer. A real trouper. It’s 40 years since she won Eurovision.
